Adam Cooper
Cooper was a young constable who like many others often became personally involved in cases. The difference however, was that Cooper was involved on the wrong side. You see, usually you would see a Mt Thomas officer showing added sympathy for abused children (ala Ben & Tess) or trying desperately hard to prove someone's guilt (ala Jonesy), but with Cooper, he was wheeling and dealing with used car criminals. This alone led to his downfall and dismissal from the force in late 1998. Before this time, Cooper showed great loyalty to the profession and to his colleagues - especially Dash, whom he held great respect for and had a strong friendship with. Adam's marital problems encroached into the storylines every now and then, leaving him a troubled individual. Adam's wife had cheated on him, and with Cooper in hospital after being found shot, Dash was by his side and things finally began to happen between the two young constables. In his concluding episodes, Adam lost the respect of all members of the station, especially Tom whom was never a big fan of Cooper. Adam handing in his badge was the most shameful scene ever seen on Blue Heelers.
Jack Lawson
Often called a 'simple' man, Lawson joined the Mt Thomas team as a young up-start. He immediately became close friends with Jo, and appeared to fit in well from the beginning. Lawson's character was a little bland... but then so was the show during his time there. His beloved horse, Matilda, featured in many episodes. Late in his tenure on the program, Jack emotionally sold the mare after becoming paraplegic. This was a rough time for Lawson and all of his fans - after investigating a drug dealer, Lawson was hot on his heels before being shot in the back. The bullet, which was lodged in place, caused him to lose movement below his waist. On the beginning episode of 2001, Lawson could miraculously walk again. It was disappointing that the writers left this storyline dangling as the major year-end climax and then let it go straight away in the new season. Jack's sudden departure from the program was perhaps the greatest moment this year! In a surprising twist, Lawson left a suspect in a drug dealing investigation drop to his death from the tower. Unfortunately for Lawson, the man was not the guilty party, and Jack is now serving a lengthy jail sentence for manslaughter.
Evan Jones
Unlike Jack and Cooper, Jonesy decided to join the force later in life. This was after he tried his luck in many professions including the building trade and as a grave digger. Jonesy came to the station in July of 2001 and was straight away the subject of Tess and Jo's attention. This 'love triangle' will be a continued story one would expect. PJ seems to have taken Jonesy under his wing, allowing him to partake in investigations, including those which have personally affected Evan. Jonesy has shown a lack of respect for his seniors, however recently he has shown an added determination to "become a good copper", and has promised to become a "team player". He is outgoing and charismatic, often gaining witness' trust by telling a yarn or two. Although joining the force to put his father's killer away, Jonesy seems to be "more of a Jones than he thought"... that is, Evan is a natural in the job, taking after his step father, Commander Reg Jones.
