The 400 Series, which runs services on the Yamagata Line since July,1992, is an typical example of "Mini-Shinkansen". It consists of a total of 6 cars per train and running service on a limit of 130km/h in mountainous area. (Actually, 400 Series can reach a top speed of 240km/h when running of flat land.)
