Field Hard Facing of Used Tool Joints

Tuboscope's Mobile Hardfacing units can be brought to the pipe yard or the well site. After tool joints are calipered to determine pre-described wear limits and marked accordingly, they are prepared by buffing and pre-heating. The welding process, similar to the flush hardfacing operation, introduces the hard metal at a controlled rate and position into the molten weld matrix. This prevents distortion and consumption of the pellets, so that uniform particle distribution results.

Pre-heating aids welding process and prevents Heat checking

Then each joint is slowly cooled to complete the procedure. Bands are then applied a precise distance off the tapered shoulder of the tool joint.

Bands are set back off the shoulder to prevent undercutting.

Field hardfacing of used goods is performed by mobile Tuboscope units based through out Indonesia.
