GT

The maddness of an escort all started when my freind in high school told me he had a car for $20 to jst get it off of his hands. so about a week later me and my dad hooked it up to the van and towed it home. I figured hay $20 investment fix what evers wrong and make some money off of it!
but of course as usuall I was in for a rude awakining once the car actually got drivable. For the longest time we could not get the damn thing to contnue runing, it would cough and sneeze and blow back out of the carb. so we figured bad seals on the valves and had it rebuilt and while we were at it we also had the motor rebuilt. once the motor was returned, I installed it all by myself while my dad was at work.
eventually it came time to start it. we cranked it over and it did the same thing as before, sneeze and cough. For some reason my dad thought it needed a new carb so I went down and bought a new carb for it.
Installed the carb and it still complained. After that we aquired other projects and missions so it got pt on the side burner. I read through the whole manuall, and only learned that "chiltons" are only good for throwing. My dad did his own reasearch. inbetween all that downtime we found parts in the junk yard like a full GT package off of a 86 escort GT, so that got installed. Eventually he called the local engine shop and asked the mechanic there what the proble was.
The mechanic said "oh thats simple, the catalitic converter is cloged". We imidiatly dropped the exauhst and the damn thing started up and actually ran! :o we then adjusted the settings on the motor and then pulled out the catalitic converter and proceeded to gut it because we didn't have a piece of pipe that would fit between. So now it is an emmission free escort.
The next mod was a cheap but decent stereo.
Now after about three years I take it off of storage after my military training and get it insured and licensed so I can drive it for a month while home. sometime in I decide to fix some of its problems. at first it was a simple body repair with a spray can job on it. However I got bored one day and took it to a dealer ship and then ford and was offered noting at one and only $200 trade in at Ford. "Only $200 for over $1000 put into it" and with a perfect running motor and clean interior and body. all it needed was to be detailed and some bondo and paint to be applied. So I said screw them and screw this just as i did with my stang. It was mod time. I started a couple days later stripping the bad paint off and filling dents. in the middle of that it recieved a 25% tint job along with a steering wheel cover. Later a paint job was applied and then a couple of days later fabric was installed on the dash and rear parcel panel to fix the cracked and fadded look. Now that I am in Germany I am looking at bringing it over and selling it here but it all depends on the market. I still want to add the mid level wing, suspension, and rims, and would also love to put a stripe on but don't know what color.
