Interview in Con Sello de Mujer
Tarkan was interviewed on March 16, 2000 in the mexican TV show Con Sello de Mujer (TV Azteca). The show's host, Luz Blanchet, interviewed Tarkan, using another woman as a translator (Tarkan gave her a smile and a sweet gaze as if he was saying "I know you" because that same woman had translated him in other shows). I want to thank Marlén, from México, for sending us this interview.
LUZ: Here is Tarkan, the one and only, live, with us. Welcome, Tarkan. TARKAN: Thanks! LUZ: Welcome, you have a beautiful name. Does it have a special meaning? TARKAN: My name means to be powerful, a leader, strength...mmm...yes. LUZ: Oh my God! You sent a lot of kisses in your first single Simarik. Do you send those kisses to a special person? TARKAN: No, I send them to my fans. LUZ: Really? TARKAN: Yes! LUZ: Which kind of kisses do you remember as the most important and the most enjoyed? TARKAN: My first kiss, of course, when I was 13 or 14 years old I had my first kiss, I had a girlfriend...[he was going to continue talking about that, but Luz didn't let him finish] LUZ: OK, What kind of kiss you think you should have given, but you never gave? TARKAN: [he hesitates] It's, it's a strange question. I don't know, I've given all the kisses I've wanted to give. LUZ: Tell us about your plans. TARKAN: Now I'm working in my new turkish album, beautiful songs, this album will be released in summer, and after that I want to go on tour in Turkey and the rest of the world. LUZ: Congratulations! Is this your fourth album? TARKAN: Third. LUZ: Third, here in Mexico is the first. Where were your expectations when you began this career? TARKAN: I didn't had much expectations, I thought that I wouldn't have a chance because I sing in Turkish, and look now! After two and a half years this album is known in all Europe, now in Mexico, and it's amazing, I'm trying to assimilate it. LUZ: Maybe that happened because you have a special gift. Anyway, receiving Tarkan here has been a great stir...[she refers to the fact that when it was announced that Tarkan would appear in Con Sello de Mujer, the fans went there and filled up the set, until it was crammed with excited girls]. Finally, Tarkan sang Simarik, to the enjoyment of the girls watching him life and for all the other ones watching him on TV.
