Latin girls are crazy for Tarkan

Thanks a lot to my friend Verónica (Argentina) for translating this article from turkish. This article appeared on turkish newspaper Hurriyet on October 6, 2001. In fact, it is just a bit of the complete interview about Tarkan published on Elele magazine. I'm impressed because it talks about me!

Damla GÖKDEL/Elele - ISTANBUL - Tarkan, the famous pop music star, agreed to participate in a photo shooting session for the renewed Elele magazine. Tarkan, known from Mexico to Panama, as well as in many other countries, will publish those pics in the October issue of the magazine.

Our famous star Tarkan will light up the cover of October's issue of Elele magazine. The world-known Tarkan, told us what were his goals in the Cihangir Studio, which is located at the top of a building. Before the photo session, Elele's journalist, Damla Gökdel, had another chance to know more about Tarkan becoming a celebrity all over the world.

The journalist introduced the Tarkan interview like this:

A PANAMANIAN FAN EVEN BUILT HIM A SITE

"I made an exhaustive investigation, I read interviews. I listened to the people. I summarized his book. I stayed up all night, chating in ICQ with loved-filled fans: the german Thalia Corason, and the girl who built Tarkan a website, the panamanian Serena, with whom I talked a lot. Yes, Panama... You didn't listen wrong. He even makes latin people crazy. Serena told me that since she saw those eyes in Sábado Espectacular magazine, her life couldn't go on without Tarkan. She says she doesn't care that she can't understand Turkish: "I feel the emotions". She has not only the files with clips from TV Azteca, Direct TV, and MTV Latino, but she has also taped some interviews. This was the way she began noticing his voice. "If he could go to Mexico," she says, warmly. She also told me how sad she was because she couldn't buy his new CD, and how eagerly she waited its arrival."
