OPET, Tarkan's new sponsor
This article was published on turkish newspaper Hurriyet on June 28, 2003. Thanks a lot to Mustafa for translating it.
Now that Tarkan is about to release his new single "Dudu", he signed a sponsorship deal with OPET Petrol company for 1.5 years. OPET, a turkish oil company founded in 1992, said they want to be an international company, and Tarkan will help promote their image worldwide. They said Tarkan is a very big representative of Turkey in foreign countries and the sponsorship activities will start with the campaign of the Dudu album and will continue with 20 concerts nationwide, in Marmara, Ege, Karadeniz and other cities. The company's sources said some surprises should be expected. However, they did not reveal the budget for the sponsorship program. Tarkan, dressed in a white shirt and dark pants, danced to music from his single "Dudu", after the announcement was made by OPET's administrative authorities. Journalists asked Tarkan about his image change. He answered them: "I am a constantly changing person. I get bored from being the always the same. The world is changing, the fashion is changing and so am I." He said: "Dudu came out with the efforts of Nazan Öncel, himself and American musicians". His new album will have 5 new songs and 2 remixes, it will also have the song "Uzun ince bi yoldayim" (I am in a long and narrow road) which is written by famous folk musician Aşık Veysel. Here in the pics you can see Tarkan they day OPET made public their agreement. On the pic at the left, Tarkan is holding a copy of his new single "Dudu".
