Say What?
How Much?!?

Man, I wish I lived in this house!

It was rare that the entire household ate supper together due to schedule conflicts.  But with the new addition to the household, all wanted to be present to discuss the new schedules and to rehash the rules and regulations.  Nothing would be settled or finalized at the dinner table, but it gave all a chance to think about things.

“Tonya.”  Techno directed his attention to the braided girl.  “Did you make your coin run today?”

Tonya blinked at the one eyed man in surprise while she chewed, trying to figure out why he cared.  “Oh!” she said swallowing and stood up.  She dug in her pocket a moment, then pulled out a couple of cards.  After she looked them over, she reached across the table to hand them to Daniel.  “Almost forgot to give you these,” she said sitting back down.

“Bank cards?” Daniel asked.  “What are these for?”

“The blue one is so you can access and use the house’s funds.  You know, like when you go get groceries or something for the house.  Then you don’t have to pay out of you own pocket,” Tonya explained.  “The purple one is for your allowance account.”

            “Allowance?”

Tonya frowned and looked at Sally.  “You haven’t explained any of this to him?”

“You do so much better at explaining these kinds of things,” the blonde replied sweetly smiling.

Tonya snorted and rolled her eyes.  “Basically you get a million dollars a year while living in this house or using it as your permanent address while living abroad.  You can spend it how ever you wish and that card is excepted practically everywhere.”

Daniel stared at the purple card.  “A million dollars?  To do with as I see fit?” Daniel asked amazed.  “You’ve got to be kidding me.”

“Well technically, there’s only a 10th of that in the account at any given time.  The FDIC only insures that much you know.  The rest is spread out and put to other uses until it’s needed,” Tonya said.

            “You’re serious?”

Tonya cocked her head.  “About the money?  Yeah.”

“I can’t except this.  That’s way to generous.”  He tried to hand the card back, but Tonya just shook her head.

“Uncle Robert set this system up to help young superheroes make it through their schooling.  It allows you to pay your bills and some extra to burn, but without the hassle of needing a job.  That means you can split your time between school, life and hero work instead of school, work, and heroing.”

“So what am I going to do with this?”

“Pay off your school loan or loans.  Buy a new car.  Buy a nice house to move into after college…” Tonya suggested.

“Buy suits of armor to decorate the house.  Fill a room with swords or guns…” Sally added with a smirk.

“Help fund your research.  Buy some of those plants you were drooling over at the garden shop…” Zarbon said.

“I’m curious why Alec and I don’t get this allowance,” Sebastian said.  “It doesn’t seem fair.”

“I don’t get the allowance either,” Zarbon pointed out.

“I don’t need or want it.  I just share with my pretty Penny,” Alec replied.

“That’s not my point,” Sebastian said patiently.  “I share with Jessica, but I was just wondering why we don’t get the allowance.”

“One.  You’re a cop.  While that does make you a hero, you’re not a superhero.  Two.  You’re already out of school.  Three.  Like you said, you guys share with your significant others.  And between the two of you, you’ve not even broken the ten percent mark yet,” Tonya answered.

“None of you have,” Techno put in.

“Daniel does fill the first two requirements, but if no one is using all their money, why don’t we all have a joint account?” Poopsie asked.

All eyes turned to Techno who shrugged.  “That’s just how Robert set it up.”

“Who’s come the closest to breaking $100,000?” Daniel asked curiously.

“Tonya, in her first year here.”  The braid girl blushed.

“What did you buy?” Alec asked raising an eyebrow.

Tonya frowned trying to remember, but Techno answered.  “She paid off her trunk loan, her parent’s mortgage, her mother’s car loan, and bought her dad a truck in addition to her college tuition.  Plus some suits of armor, a few guns, a couple of swords, the cases in the gun room, and a 10 pound cheese wheel.”

Daniel looked at the two cards a moment longer, then sighed and pulled out his wallet to put them away.  “Thank you.”

            “You’re welcome.”

“So Daniel…” Tonya began, grinning like a Cheshire cat.  “Any ideas on what you’re going to buy first?”

“Well, it won’t be a cheese wheel.”
