        The Beoing Bird of Prey is Boeing's new stealth prototype. it uses the latest stealth technology along with special camouflage techniques to make it invisible to the human eye while it flies at 20,000 feet.

   The Bird of Prey was reviled to the public on October 18. It made 38 flights between 1996 & 1999. It has a maximum speed of 300 mph. Its max altitude is 20,000 feet. the main purpose of the air craft was never revealed, the only thing Beoing said was that it was built to test "very specific low-observables technologies (stealth)". The air craft was built by Boeing's Phantom Works, in St. Louis. 

    The Bird of Prey was tested at Area 51, the Air Force's classified Flight test center in Nevada. This remarkable air craft is only about half the size of a typical fighter. The engine intake is mounted a top the air craft, to minimize its appearance on radar. 

    Boeing's Phantom Works designed carbon fiber skin panels for the Bird of Prey that absorb radar and make it appear invisible while flying high. on radar the Bird of Prey appears about the size of a mosquito, making it only detectable at very close ranges.

    One of the advantages the Bird of Prey has over the B-2 and F-117 is the fact that it is stealthy during the day and not just at night. The black color of the B-2 and F-117 makes them hard to spot at night, the color of the Bird of Prey makes it match in with the sky at high altitudes in affect making it hard to see day or night.
