The Tomar Chronicle-Herald

Volume I, Number 3 - September 1, 2002

Welcome back to the latest issue of the Chronicle-Herald.  Thanks for your continued support of the SIMM.

As I continue to return to my previous level of being online, myself and the rest of the Tomar Admin staff will be working behind the scenes to make the Tomar even better. Some of the things we have planned over the next few months and into the Tomar's third year of existance include an update to the Website, update to the application form, the Allowable Species, bio updates, submission of the site to various Top lists and even for awards, to help bring in new players, and update of the Ship's Manual, the Manifest and bio pages, and other web detaqils. Also, we're going to try and smooth out other things as we catch them. I hope that be the end of year three, the Tomar will have at least 15 players and a new look, along with a couple of Site awards, and a few Character and player awards as well.

This is going to be a rebuilding time for the ship, but that doesn't mean that the SIMM will stop, on the contrary, we will continue to have new story lines as the Tomar goes into her third season.

We've had our ups and downs, but I am proud to be your GM and that you have stayed on, or joined us. Yeah, thats right, we have a new player and a returning player as well. I'm going to include in this issue of the TC-H a current list of all the active players. The Audit has ended, with 5 players responding out of ten. Not too bad, but not enough to bring us back to active status, except that we have recently received a few new applications, and now we have 7 players, well on our way to my goal of 15 players by Augsut 23, 2003.

Speaking of August 23, we just had our 2nd birthday. That's right, the Tomar is now Three years old. Once the current episode is completed, we will switch over to the Year Three banners.

So, thank you to those who have stuck by us over these past 2 years, and welcome aboard to those who are just joining us.

For the month of September, I would like to see EVRYONE post 4 times over the next month. Players who do not post will be subject to the rules and penalties of the Manual. Please contact any of the Admin staff if you have any questions.

As a reminder, the current story is entitled Episode 6: Patrol, and is near its completion. All In Character (IC) posts should now use the following as their subject line notation:

Last Name: Post Title

If you have noticed over the past few emails from the list, the TAG line has changed in the Subject line. This will change every mission, so that now you don't have to worry about it. Just put your last name and then post title, and thats it.

Ship's Current Disposition:

The Tomar is currently about to suffer the catastrophic effects of a warp-core breach. And the fact that the Tomar is over-armored and over-powered will make the effect that much more spectaular. Most, if not all of the crew has abandoned ship, including the Admiral, who is coming out of his coma into a confusing situation, and is having all sorts of difficulties establishing any sense of order around him.

Whats next for the crew of the Tomar, on Sept. 5, 2002, our manifest will be added to the Union Colony mailing list. That is where we will be getting our new ship. Go to:  https://www.angelfire.com/trek/usstirnanog/index.htm to find out about it.

OOC: We are getting a new ship, it's actual class will be announced in an IC-post at the beginning of Episode 7.

Teaser for Episode 6: Out of the Ashes, a King Arises:

With the war with the C'hakilian Empire going badly, the USS Tomar is sent on a simple Patrol Duty, to ensure the regained territories of the Federation remind free. But in war, is anything simple?

Next Cycle:

The next Posting Cycle is Cycle 27, which will run the ENTIRE month of September. EVRYONE should post a MINIMUM of 4 times over the next month. Players who do not post will be subject to the rules and penalties of the Manual.   Please contact any of the Admin staff if you have any questions.which will run for the entire month of June. There are currently NO LOAs right now, so everyone is considered active. Those who hven't yet arrived can describe your arrival to your new duty assignment. The new Tomar will be awaiting us at Union Colony.

Also, out of respect for those who died on September 11, 2001, I would ask that everyone write an IC post on September 11th, as a sign of respect, not only for those who died on the 11th, but also for those who died afterwards, including one of our own. Last year, Maele Tagaloalagi, one of our founding players, died in late October while serving his country in search of the terrorists who caused the WTC attacks. Thank you.All ACTIVE players will need to post 4 (FOUR) posts minimum. If you are on an LOA, please contatc me so that I know if you still need to stay on LOA status, otherwise, if I or one of the AGMs do not hear from you by the end of the month, you will be placed on MIA status.

All department heads should be submitting their monthly Department Head reports. Department Heads who continue to fail to submit will be reprimanded, lose points, and eventually removed from their positions.

ALL Players need to post the minimum number of posts per cycle. In the case of Cycle 27 (September 2002), you need to post 4 times during the entire mountain. That gives you 30 days to write and email 4 posts to the list. If you post, but don't post the min, you will be put on a Warning status, and moved up and down as appropriate. Please look at the Manual if you have any questions, or email the Admins.

Manual: https://members.tripod.com/usstomar/htmlfiles/simminfo/manual/policies.htm

Try to get into the habit of making your mins or contacting the Admins if you can't during any cycle.

LOA Policy:

Don't be afraid to ask for an LOA if you really need one, or if you know you're going to be going away. I'm not going to bite your head off, in fact, most of the time, I'm going to ok it (9 out of 10). It saves me the headaches of wondering where you are, and also helps so that you don't lose points, or get removed during surprise AUDITS.

You need to get in contact with me if you can't post as soon as you are able to post again, or even better, before, use somebody elses email if need be, put please, get in touch with me or one of the other AGMs and let us know. If I don't hear from you, I'm going to consider you MIA, and you'll be removed from the SIMM after so many cycles. If you want to leave the simm, please drop me a note and let me know, otherwise, if I remove players from the SIMM, I have to notify BFJAG, which can cause repercussions on you if you run other characters in BF. Please, be considerate, Thanks.

AFY Mailing List:

Is anyone on the AFY mailing list anymore? If you are and you don't want to be, let me know and I'll have you taken off.

Federation Times:

Please keep reading the Federation Times (http://www.bravofleet.com/bravofleet/fleet_news.htm) to keep up on what else is going on in BF and Starfleet. Stories here may have some impact on what happens in our SIMM.

Bravo Fleet News:

August 31, 2002 - from Rear Admiral Patrick Smith II: New Nemesis picture released, go to: http://ffmedia.ign.com/startrek/image/st-nemesis-valdore-large.jpg

May 28, 2002 - from Fleet Admiral Mike Bremer, CO of Bravo Fleet: I want to thank everyone that's taking the time to vote for BF, pushing us to the top of many lists and getting BF many new members. In the last 24 hours we have received no less then 22 apps, that's up 110% from an average day. BF's record is 47 apps in a day, I'd love to break that! So, I'm asking you all to keep voting. Even if you just have a few minutes, vote for at least the top lists marked 'Priority One' TSLs. http://www.bravofleet.com/bravofleet/voteforbf.htm

And, by the way, Bravo Fleet's been named in "Who's Who on the Web" 5th anniversery edition. The BFHQ joins sites like CrouchingTiger.com, CocaCola.com, DreamWorks.com, u2.com!! I think that's just awsome! From what they told me when the email notification that came in, BF's the ONLY Star Trek RPG listed! :)

Keep up the great work and showing your pride in Bravo Fleet!!
