Brima Resort


This is located in Penarrubia, Abra with a traveling distance of seven and a half kilometers, along asphalted and partly gravel road. Sibud-Sibud Cave

Borokibok Resort


This is located at San Miguel, Bucay, Abra. It can be reached after traveling the winding 16 kilometer Penarrubia-Bucay Road. Boliney Hot Spring


This is located at Bani, Boliney, Abra. It can be reached by jeepneys after cruising a distance of 32-kilometers of earth road. The place is an ideal place for swimmers who love taking a bath in hot and cold waters. Don Teodoro Brillantes Family Musseum


This is a private museum which houses the collections and mementos of the Brilliantes family with a strong reflection of the Spanish culture.

Abra is an interior province carved out of huge chunks of Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur in the Northwestern part of Luzon. It is completely enclosed by the Cordillera and Ilocos Mountains.

Refreshed by the winds of China Sea in the west, Abra is a "low land" peopled with dominant Spanish ancestry and is endowed with richly preserved culture.

Abra is bounded on the north by Ilocos Norte, on the west by Ilocos Sur, and Mountain Province on the south and the east.

It has 27 municipalities, with 3,975.5 square km total land area.   Bangued is the province's capital.

Major Industries.  Abra's virgin forests make logging as one of its important industries. Timber, rattan, honey and wax are also yielded from the surrounding forests that also abound with rich mineral resources such as gold and metallic ores which up to this time are not yet fully tapped.

Points of Interest

Tangadan Channel. This is a forty-meter tunnel located along the Abra-Ilocos Sur National Road. It can be reached via Narvacan Junction after cruising through a winding 9-kilometer road cut through the hills bordering Abra and Ilocos Sur. The tunnel is popular benchmark to most of the province-populace as well as to visitors for it's where dignitarians and other prominent visitors are being welcomed.

Casamata National Park. This is located atop a hill overlooking the town of Bangued and the neighboring municipalities of Tayum, La Paz, Pidigan and Penarrubia. A swimming pool is also available for swimmers.

Don Mariano Marcos Bridge. Located along the Abra-Kalinga National Road, the third longest bridge in the country today is the Don Mariano Marcos Bridge with at total length of 886.812 lineal meters. Said bridge is strategically located between the boundaries of Tayum, Lagangilang and Doleres, scenic portions of the Abra River.

Mary Barbero Park. This is the town plaza of the municipality of Tayum which is located 5.6 kilometers northeast of Bangued. It boasts of a man-made mini waterfall, a scating rink, a basketball court, of a man-made lagoon and a playground for children, not to mention the century-old acacia trees surrounding the landscaped plaza. This park was named in honor of Mrs. Mary V. Barbero, the wife of the late Deputy Minister Carmelo Z. Barbero.

Malanas Dam. This is a gravity irrigation dam located at San Juan, Abra. It taps the water resource of Malanas River irrigating a sizable portion of the ricefields of San Juan. It can be reached by riding on a mini-bus traveling along the Bangued-Dolores-San Juan Provincial Road which is asphalted. Traveling tims is thirty minutes to one hour with a traveling distance of around 3.6 kms.

Malamsit Calm Spring. This is one of the first resorts developed by a priveat citizen and is located in the historic lowland Tinguian town of Penarrubia. It offers a shady swimming pool with clear and calm waters amidst ornamental plants and shady fruit trees. This place is very accessible by land transportation using jeepneys, mini-buses and chartered tricycles thru a 7-kilometer of asphalt road and one kilometer of gravel road.

Kimkimay Lake. This is one of the several lakes of the province located at Tuguib, Villaviciosa. It covers an approximate area of one hectare amidst hills bordering Barangays Tuguib and Callao, both in Villaviciosa. KimkimayLace, according to the legend, this place was formerly a dwelling place where several families lived. The legend says, that the families engaged in so many vices, so they were punished by gods, sinking their community and submerging it in cold water. Today the lake is a favorite place for town picnickers using it as a swimming pool and a place for fishing. This place can be reached from Bangued (the provincial capital) traveling along a 32-kilometer winding Penarrubia-Villaviciosa-Pilar Road which is similar to the famous Kennon Road. Transportation is readily available with jeepneys and mini-buses plying the Penarrubia-Villaviciosa route with a traveling time of one hour.

Manabo Irrigation Project. This is a P 6 million project which was jointly undertaken by the MISERROR, an association of German Catholics, the Bavarian Minister of Agriculture and the people of Manabo. This is an ideal place for students to visit with its Roman-inspired aqueducts, a spacious swimming pool and a one kilometer tunnel. The Manabo Irrigation Project is a monument that shows the undying cooperation of the local folks with any agendy (public or private) in the pursuance of better quality of life. The project site can be reached by mini-buses and jeepneys after leisurely cruising along a winding 32 kilometers stretch of gravel road. The tunnel and swimming pool is 4 kilometers away from the town proper of Manabo.

Lombo Lake. This is the second lace located at Villaviciosa. Though not as popular as the Kimkimay Lake, it offers an ideal place for campers as well as hikers for it cannot be directly reached by jeepneys or buses. A negligible distance, however, must be hiked in order to reach the place.

Palayan ng Bayan. This is a vast tract of barren land converted into an agricultural land when the Palayan ng Bayan Program was launched in the province in 1974 as a sister program of the Masagana 99 Program. The site covers a sprawling 56 hectares atop hills bordering Villaviciosa and Luba. The site is proposed as a rehabilitation and resettlement area. This can be reached after a two-hour trip along the 35-kilometer winding and scenic Penarrubia-Villaviciosa-Luba Road. Means of transportation is by jeepneys and mini-buses.

Sagsagacat Spring Resort. A breath-taking spot in Penarrubia is located 3 kilometers away from Bangued. It boasts of two swimming pools, shower rooms, cottages for hire and picnic sheds. The crystal-clear waters can easily soothe the one's tired body.

Provincial Capitol. This is a three-story building situated North from Bangued Town Plaza and Northwest of Bangued Municipal Town Hall. Its cool atmosphere provided by the trees surrounding it is suitable place for government officials and employees to perform and function as servants for the Abrenians. It is in this building where tourists gather data and information about the province. Beside it is the Provincial Library which provides additional knowledge and information through textbooks, newspapers, magazines and other reading materials. Landscapes in front of the Capitol and Provincial Library Building adds to its remarkable panorama.

Abra River A project of the Church in Abra and the National Irrigation Administration designed to irregate approximately 3,900 hectares of farmlands in the municipalities of Tayum, Bangued, Pidigan and Penarrubia. Its existence provides an opportunity for the people to harvest twice a year aside from its touristic views.

Lusuac Dam

This is a gravity irrigation dam located at Lagayan. It can be reached by traveling along the Abra-Ilocos Norte Road and the La Paz-Lagayan Provincial Road wherein travel is mostly on gravel road. Traveling time takes one to one and a half hours. This is an ideal place for fishing and swimming with its clear waters.
