Where to stay in La Union?

Bauang:

This  town at the mouth of Bauang River, eight km. south of  San Fernando  at the junction where the road from Baguio meets the coastal highway, is La Union's main beach resort.  Bauang (founded 1590) has an old watchtower, a beige-sand beach, an shallow water that's usually clean and placid.   The  seabed slopes gently out to coral reefs.  Locals fish offshore.   Bauang Beach is noted for fine sunsets.  Resort hotels and cottages line it for several kilometers north of the town through Bgy.  Baccuit and Bgy. Paringao.   The most popular section is just south of Long Beach Resort.  Resorts may charge nonguests an entrance fee or for the use of their picinic shelters, while occasionally they'll allow outsiders to use their showers for a nominal change.   Overnight rates increase  substantially during the Easter and Christmas peak seasons.  Resort restaurants are relatively expensive, so day-visitors on a budget should eat in San Fernando or bring a picnic.  Bancas may be hired for fishing, snorkeling trips (gear can be rented at the reorts), or a 15-minute ride to the Poro Peninsula beach and coral garden; a boatmen's association standardizes hourly rates.   Water skiing is also offered.
