The town of Sorsogon is served by regular Philtranco buses linking Manila (604 km) with Samar and Leyte. Buses to Manila depart hourly 0830-1900. JB Liner mini-buses depart every 30 minutes from Legaspi (59 km, 1 1/2 hours). Secondary roads link all settlements with the main highway. On some routes, the last jeepney trip may be about 1630. Matnog two hours from Sorsogon by bus or jeepney, is the terminal for ferryboats crossing the San Bernardino Strait to Allen (Samar), with several trips daily. Bulan is the port for Masbate. Philtanco has a Manila-Bulan service, while JB Liner operates hourly from Legaspi until 1500 (takes 3 1/2 hours). Boats sail twice daily from Masbate town (four hours), and also cross from San Fernando and San Jacinto on Ticao (two hours).
