The bells in the loft space, of their original location in Crowthorne, Berkshire, UK. (The second is hidden behind the tenor's wheel.) The only modification to the roof structure was the addition of two 6" x 2" boards running at right angles to the joists. The frames and headstocks were designed to fit between and around the roof trusses and the whole assembly was designed to be easily removed. Although the original specification allowed for an air-vent in the ceiling of the ringing room to increase the sound level, it was subsequently realised that much of the sound was being 'lost' in the loft space and a box was now constructed (out of old internal doors) to encase the bells and 'force' most of the sound downwards into the ringing room. The box had an easily removal lid to allow access for inspection and maintenance.  A similar box has been constructed in the bells' present location in Waccabuc with excellent results.
