Batman

By far the best in this series of films that began with an attempt to re-vamp the Dark Knight from the campy sixties show to the darker version that he is now. The first Batman movie was released in the summer of 1989, marking the heroes 50th anniversary and quickly became the number one movie of that year competing against the third Indiana Jones film and the second Lethal Weapon.

This movie starred Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Jack Nicholson as Jack Napier/The Joker and Kim Basinger as Vicki Vale. Before the movie was released, there were a number of contenders for the role of Batman including Bill Murray. However, when Michael Keaton got the part, there was an uproar from the fans on this casting decision. Warner Bros were bombarded with countless mail asking them to re-consider their choice but to no avail. Michael Keaton was Batman.

On seeing the movie, however, a large portion of this anger left fans when they saw what a great Batman Michael Keaton played.
