This movie was released in 1990 and starred Matt Salinger as Steve Rojers/Captain America. The movie also featured Cap's most dangerous foe: The Red Skull. The plot of the film revolves around the origin of Cap and the Red Skull beginning with the abduction of a gifted Italian boy from his home by German Nazis. This boy is then made subject to experiments which have been devised by a Doctor. The Doctor responsible for the experiment escapes from the Nazi establishment, refusing to perform the experiments on the boy. This doesn't stop the Nazis who complete the experiment that mutates the boy into the Red Skull, giving him superior speed, agility and intelligence.

Some years down the line, the same Doctor joins the American army and recreates her experiments, this time without the side-effects of her original attempt. Steve Rojers, a weedy man with a bad leg is chosen as the guinea pig and he leaves his friends and family to participate in the experiment that would change his life. The secret lab is housed under a diner (!) and here, Steve Rojers is given his powers. Unfortunately, a Nazi smuggles himself in and manages to kill the Doctor while at the same time, wounding our hero before being electrocuted to death. The doctor kept the secrets of her experiment in her head and had not written down the formula anywhere which means that the process cannot be repeated. Thus, Steve Rojers is the only man to become the super soldier known as Captain America.

A few days later, it is found that the Nazis are preparing an attack on the US. Steve Rojers, volunteers, even though he is still recovering from his wounds. He is given his costume and the indestructible shield and parachutes down into enemy territory. At this point, our hero is still inexperienced with the shield but manages to take out the guard tower on his first try. He then breaks into the Nazi base and battles against the soldiers, managing to take them all out. Cap then comes upon an enormous hanger with a huge missile ready for launch. It is here that Cap first comes face-to-face with his adversary - The Red Skull.

At first thought, Captain America decides to attack with his shield and hurls it at the Red Skull. Unfortunately, the red Skull is no ordinary opponent and manages to catch the shield. He then throws it back with such force that it gets buried almost completely into the concrete floor.

This doesn't deter Cap and he races forward to fight the Red Skull. Once the fight begins, Cap begins to realise that he is too inexperienced to take on someone like the Red Skull. Taking advantage of this, the Red Skull puts his plan into motion just as Cap manages to get the upper hand. The Red Skull drugs Captain America, thus defeating him.

After a brief battle, Cap is strapped to the missile. Seconds before the missile launches, Cap grabs the Red Skull's hand, prepared to take him with him. The Red Skull saves himself but at the cost of having to sever his own hand off.

The missile is on a direct course for the White House but just before it reaches it's destination, Cap spots a small boy taking pictures of the white house who also, seeing the missile, takes a picture of Cap. Cap manages to break a leg free and cause enough damage to the missile to alter it's course. Unfortunately, the missile flies to Alaska where it crashes into ice, freezing our hero to the point where he is in suspended animation.

The story now takes place some fifty years later where the young boy taking photos becomes president. The president is now pushing through a policy which will lead to less pollution etc. causing many industry and military heads to get nervous.

The Red Skull is still alive and well and has been linked to several key world events such as the Kennedy assasinations. He assembles all these heads and promises to eradicate the cause by kidnapping and brainwashing the president.

Meanwhile, an expedition in Alaska leads to a team finding a block of ice with our hero encased within. After the team bring the block of ice back, there is a sudden crash and Captain America breaks free from the ice and disappears.

The Red Skull hears of this and sends his daughter to find and kill Captain America. At the same time, the President also hears of Captain America and realising it is the same man, he sends his closest friend out to find and bring him back.

Meanwhile, Captain America, on his way back from Alaska, is suddenly under attack from the Red Skull's daughter and her team of killers. Cap is chased through the woods by two motor cycles and manages to take both of them out. He is wounded in the fight but is saved by the President's friend who turns up just in time to rescue him.

Quite a weak movie with the usual 'villain wants to rule the world' plot. Salinger was very unconvincing as Captain America as he looks to be wearing some kind of padding throughout the movie to look as though he is muscled. It doesn't work. Most of the time he just looks fat.
