Cafes
Le Cafe Bleu - Heritage Courtyard - tucked away just off of Sadler Street in a courtyard - this is an elegant cafe in an attractive quiet setting away from the road. Take a break.
Carringtons - Tea Rooms - located on Sadler Street - large tea room with waitress staff - nice milkshakes and apple pie. Close to the Market Place
Da Lucianos' - Pizzeria and Expresso Bar. Family run Italian cafe offering homemade pizza - small and friendly. Located on Broad Street at the western end of the High Street. They usually have a couple of tables outside in the better weather - eat and watch the world go by.
Spinning Wheel - Cafe. Located in South Street, just off the High Street.
Ritchers - Cafe Bar - located in Sadler Street. Elegant bar type cafe with tables outside, close to the Market Place
Pubs
Cheddar Valley Inn - Tucker Street. Located almost opposite the vehicle entrance to Tesco, this is a small local pub
The City Arms - High Street. Located at the western end of the High Street this pub is very old and features a pleasant courtyard. The building once served as jail ( gaol to our American visitors ).
The Crown - Market Place. Located on the south side of the Market Place, this pub dates from the mid 15th century. The building also house accommodation and a restaurant. There is a pleasant courtyard at the rear. Quaker leader William Penn addressed the crowds from this building.
The Fountain Inn - St Thomas Street. Located just to the East of Vicars Row, this smart pub is a pleasant place to relax - the bar area is small as much of the pub is geared towards food. There is an excellent restaurant upstairs too.
The Full Moon - Southover Street. Located just south of the High Street in the attractive Southover area. Quiet, friendly pub with a bar billiard table too
Globe Inn - Priest Row located towards St Cuthberts church.
The Kings Head - High Street. Located midway along the High Street, busy city pub.
Mermaid Inn - Tucker Street. Located opposite the Little Theatre and next to the unique Falklands Island Agency Shop, near Tesco. This pub also offers accommodation.
Rose and Crown - St John Street. Located just past the end of the High Street
Sherston Inn - Union Street. Located on the south west edge of the city close to the A371 by pass. The pub has a large walled garden area. In days gone passed when Wells had a railway station there was a level crossing alongside here.
Sun Inn - Union Street - located between the Union Street car park and the High Street. This pub offers sports TV.
