Established in 1971, Wilkes County Emergency Medical Services is a county government owned and operated medical service located in the beautiful rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Covering more than 700 square miles with a population of approximately 70,000 people, Wilkes County is the second largest county in the state. Employing 32 field paramedics, Wilkes County Emergency Medical Services mans two full-time Bases and two Prime-time bases providing around the clock advanced life support care for the citizens of Wilkes County.
