The president who led the nation
through the hard years of World War I was Woodrow Wilson. He was probably the only
president who was a brilliant student and teacher as well as a statesman. He had been a
college professor, president of Princeton University, and the author of books on American
government. He had also been governor of New Jersey. Woodrow Wilson worked out his
political beliefs in the classroom. Then he entered politics to put his theories of
government into practice. |
