Terrain
- Topography varies from steep rugged mountains and cool climate at the higher elevations to the west to mountains and low conical shape hills and upland plains in the central part to jungle covered mountains and hills to the east; coastal areas largely plains and rolling hills. Most of the tropical forests are in the central part of the country (canal area), the east (Darien Province) and along the Caribbean coast. (Source notes 3 and 4)
