May - June

  • June 29- WWF Smackdown

Contestants:  Y2J & The Dudley Boyz vs. HHH, Roaddogg & X-Pac-(DX) 
Match Rules:  1 fall 6 man tag-team match
Winners:  Degeneration X

Details:  Triple H pulled off his Pedigree on D-Von Dudley, and wins the match for DX.  Jericho and the Dudleys had the last laugh when Jericho dropkicked Triple H off the apron and through a wooden table.

  • June 22- WWF Smackdown

Contestants:  Hardcore Holly vs.  Chris Jericho
Match Rules:  1 fall, Singles Match
Winner:  Chris Jericho

Details:  The match started as a major fist fight.  Stephanie McMahon Helmsley came out during the match with her WWF Women's Championship Belt.  Stephanie stepped on the apron and hit Jericho in the back with her Women's Championship Belt, she did this when referee Teddy Long was not looking.  Next, Hardcore pinned Jericho but only got a two count.  Both Stephanie and Hardcore were surprised.  Then Hardcore used an Irish whip on Y2J and missed with a drop kick.  Jericho took this opportunity to do his Asai Moonsault and he picked up the victory.

  • June 15th-WWF Smackdown

contestants:  Chris Jericho vs.  (surprise opponent) Bull Buchanan     
match rules:  1 fall, Singles Match
winner:  Bull Buchanan

details:   Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley provided color commentary during Chris Jericho's match against Bull.  During this match Chris Jericho spit water in the face of the WWF Women's Champion Stephanie.  This might have not been too smart on the part of Jericho.  Jericho and Bull continued to go at it inside the ring. When Bull was face up on the ground, Jericho decided to go for his Asai Moonsault.  As Jericho was about to jump off the ropes Stephanie threw a whole bucket of water in the face of Jericho.  Bull quickly got up and ended the match with his finishing maneuver.

  • June 8th-WWF Smackdown

contestants:  Chris Jericho vs. Test w/Trish Stratus
match rules:  King of the Ring Qualifying match
winner:  Chris Jericho       

details:  Trish might have been the deciding factor for Test in this match.  We saw Jericho try to do his Asai Moonsault but Trish stopped him.  Towards the end of this match Trish steps up on the apron and distracts the referee from seeing the pin Jericho had on Test.  Jericho turns his back to Test and Test uses this moment to deliver his Pump Handle Slam special.  Jericho counters this maneuver and sends Test flying toward Trish.  Test knocks into Trish sending her off the apron and Jericho delivers a bulldog to Test.  While Test is on the ground Jericho tries for his Asai Moonsault for the second.  Jericho connects with his finisher and gets the 3 counts to qualify for the King of The Ring.

contestants:  Chris Jericho vs. Hardcore Holly
match rules:  1 fall
winner:  Chris Jericho

details:  During this match we saw Hardcore Holly jump off the top ropes trying to deliver a double ax handle.  Jericho counters his move and dropkicks Holly while he is in mid air.  Towards the end Chris Benoit came out with a steel chair.  Benoit steps on the apron and  Jericho smartly drop kicks  Hardcore towards the ropes and this causes Hardcore to hit the steel chair.  While Hardcore is on the ground Jericho jumps off the ropes delivering his Asai Moonsault.  Jericho gets the 3 counts and wins the match.

 

May 25-WWF Smackdown

contestants:  Chris Jericho vs. Val Venis vs. Hardcore Holly 
match rules:  1 fall, Triple Threat Match,  #1 contender spot for the IC championship belt
winner:  Hardcore Holly

details:  All of these former intercontinental Champions put up a great fight.  In the beginning we saw Jericho and Val double team Holly a little.  We saw Val put Holly in a fishermen's Suplex.  We saw Jericho put the Walls of Jericho on Holly, and used the ropes to do this so that Holly really suffered.  We also saw Jericho hit Val Venis with a Asai Moonsault too.  But at the end it was Hardcore who had the final dance.  As Jericho proceeded to pin Val after doing his Asai Moonsault, Hardcore Holly jumped off the top ropes and did a flying leg drop to Jericho.  Then Hardcore Holly pinned Val Venis and got the win.  Therefore next Monday on Raw Hardcore will fight The Intercontinental Champion.  

May 18-WWF Smackdown

contestants:  Chris Jericho & Val Venis vs.  Chris Benoit & Hardcore Holly
match rules:  1 fall, Tag Team match
winners:  (as a result of a disqualification) Chris Jericho & Val Venis 

details:  As the match got interesting Jericho and Benoit went at it.  Almost like a preview of Judgment Day.  As the match continued Jericho went for the Walls of Jericho and connected with it on Chris Benoit.  While this was going on Hardcore Holly and Val were going at it.  Hardcore hits Val over the head with a steel chair and then climbs into the ring and hits Jericho with the same steel chair.  The referee quickly calls for the bell and disqualifies the team of Chris Benoit and Hardcore Holly. 

May 11-WWF Smackdown

contestants:  Chris Jericho & The Hardy Boys vs.  Kurt Angle & Edge and Christian
match rules:  1 fall, 3 way tag team match
winners:  The team of Kurt Angle & Edge and Christian

details:  Chris Benoit came out of the ring to taunt Jericho.  Jericho left The Hardy's   and went to the back to fight the Intercontinental Champion.  Soon after Christian hit Matt over the head with the ring bell, which lead the legal man in the ring at this time, Kurt Angle, to pin Matt.  Kurt Angle got the 3 counts and won the match for him, Edge and Christian.

May 4-WWF Smackdown

contestants:  Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit
match rules: 1 fall, and its for the WWF Intercontinental Championship
winner: Chris Jericho

details: This match was first on Smackdown.  As this exciting rematch took place, the crowd were on their feet.  The first man to be introduced was not the challenger, Chris Jericho, but it was the official referee of this match, Earl Hebner.  As this match was close to an end Chris Benoit tossed out Jericho.  As he tried to get out of the ring to get Chris Jericho, Earl Hebner stopped Chris Benoit.  Benoit then pushed Hebner, making him fall out of the ring to the hard mat outside.  Soon after that Jericho came in the ring, this time he took the Intercontinental belt and hit Benoit over the head with it.  Jericho then tossed the belt away and ended the match with his Asai Moonsault, making him the new WWF Intercontinental Champion.
