Question: Where you aware of Fox's reluctance to casting Gillian? David: That's overblown. You look at Gillian, and she's a beautiful woman. And how often do you see Scully in a bathing suit? Gillian's not 6 feet tall and doesn't have what's-her-face's tits, but she's got as nice face as any of them. Maybe they thought she's not tall enough or not Pamela Anderson enough. -Rolling Stone David:It's a difficult relationship because it's like an arranged marriage. We didn't choose to be together. -Us Magazine
David: We've never socialized. Since the pilot, we've not gone out even once.
David: You don't have other examples of a two-person show that comes back five seasons. You have ensembles, but two-person shows explode, because it's tough to work like that. It's an arranged marriage. Obviously we're not as close as Mulder and Scully. We don't hang out. We've got a good working relationship. The fact that we are still doing the show speaks for itself. I feel fine going to work and seeing Gillian, and I feel fine when the day is over. We're friendly, we're friends, but it's not more than that. It's not less. It works.
David: We get along as much as we have to get along - professionally. But we’re two very different kinds of people, and that’s as true today as it was at the beginning of the series. We don’t spend time together away from the set because we work very long hours together and we need to get far, far away from each other. I’m too glib and sarcastic, and I know that rubs Gillian the wrong way.
David: We don't really need to talk all the time or gossip. We've worked together so much we don't want to. We have a relationship of reliance more than a friendship. The interaction we have, we save for work. We save it all up for the camera. It's like a superstition almost.
