Heidi Gilbert

R.I.P.
Heidi was a bundle of joy from the minute she came into my world. She was my little kid...my devil and angel, both in one, playful...happy...and oh so busy. She loved her toys and knew each one by name. We would play "hide and seek" and then I would hide a toy and she would go find it. She adored happy music and she even taught herself how to do a jig with her hind legs... of course for a cookie ! She hated the brush...uh oh, can't find Heidi !! ....and the only big part of her 3lbs. 2ozs. was her mouth! Her favorite place in the whole wide world was in the car in her Sherpa Bag, and her very favorite song was "The Itsy Bitsy Spider." Tummy aches interfered in Heidi's happy life, but we did our best to keep them under control. Her real troubles began when she was almost 14 and her parathyroid gland failed to function any longer. We struggled to keep her calcium level in check for almost a year. Her kidneys were failing too, and she went totally blind the last few weeks of her life. That was just too much for her. She is my forever dog and I cherish every single moment I had with her. |
I knew our parting time was near
When you laid so still upon my chest
And whined to me of pain and fear.
I prayed to God
With the shed of my tear
That you, my little one
Would forever be blessed.
And when your Angels came for you
God took you from my arms
He blessed my life
By showing me
He had you in His palms.
Once again He let me know
Although the time had come to part
He would leave you here with me
Alive inside my heart.
