Hello Everyone, I wanted to introduce myself and give you an update on
Lexie. My name is Debbie Hammond, Lexie's Mom. Lexie's surgery with
Dr.Tobias was last week. She went in the hospital tuesday. Her Scinitigraphy
results indicated one extrahepatic shunt. Her surgery was on wed. and lasted
45 min. Dr.Tobias said the surgery went very well. She had no trouble
locating and repairing the shunt. While Lexie was still under anesetic she
was spayed and 4 baby teeth she had retained were removed to avoid more
anesetic and surgery later. Everyone was wonderful to Lexie, myself and my 2
teenagers StevieNicole and Randy. Dr.Tobias is truly AMAZING.They call her
Top Gun because she is absolutely the very BEST.Our Vet Student,Denise Roark
was warm and wonderful to us,as was DR.Tobias and the other staff. Denise
called us at least twice a day to let us know how Lexie was doing which we
appreciated very much. Those calls eased our anxiety and we were very
grateful to recieve them.Lexie was in intensive care wed and thursday. We
were able to visit her thursday afternoon. Lexie was released friday
afternoon. We stayed another night in Knoxville and left for the trip home
sat. afternoon.Lexie is doing fine. She is eating on her own for the first
time ever. She is eating the L/D food and drinking normally. Before the
surgery I had to sit her on the kitchen table and feed her with a baby
spoon.I also had to try all the tricks of diffrent foods that I learned
about from Terri and all of you here.
I don't have the words to express my extreme Gratitude and Thanks to all of
you for the support and Prayers.Thank you all from the bottom of my Heart
and Soul. Thanks to the TSFMLS for saving Lexie's life by awarding the
grant.Special Thanks to our Earth Angels Terri Shumsky,Darinda Tanner,Gloria
MacLeod,Susan Brown,Mimi Litterest,and Vicci Doyle. Without your
help, support and Prayers this trip and Lexie's life saving surgery would
have not been possible because I could not have done this on my own. It is
because of all of you I was able to make the trip.God Bless and keep each
and every one of you..........our Earth Angels. I believe with all my Heart
God sent Terri to us,then to Dr.Tobias and then each and every one of
you.Thank you all for our Baby Lexie's life.Sincerely, Hugs,Kisses and Love
from Debbie/Lexie's mom & StevieNicole & Randy

just a note to let you know I took Lexie to her local vet to have her
incision checked.I also suspected she had a fever.I was right........she had
a slight fever so he started her on an antibiotic. He said her incision
looks fine and he will remove her stiches on Sept. 3rd.  My messages have
been bouncing back because my account was too full while we were away. I
think the problem is fixed now. Debbie/Lexie's mom

Hi everybody, just a note to tell you Lexie is doing better and better. I
have been having fits with this computer since our trip. All my e-mails were
bouncing and I had to re-do everything. Since I am computer stupid I have
tried 15 times to send you all a message. very flustrating to say the least!
My daughter is a whiz with computers, but unfortunately she is very busy
and not around much since school has started. I took Lexie to our vet this
week to have her incision checked. I also suspected she had a slight fever.
She did so he put her on antibiotic. He said her incision looks fine and she
will get her stiches out on the 3rd. Lexie is still eating the L/D since
surgery. NO MORE FEEDING WITH A BABY SPOON BY HAND! Hooray!  Lexie is her
same sweet self since surgery.I think I must be lucky there. She still lets
me groom her everyday and will still take liquid meds. I pray you got the
other 2 messages I have tried to send 15 times. LOL When I am sure that I
can send messages that you can actually get, then I will tell you our
history. My daughter has promised to send pictures of Lexie to our Earth
Angels tomorrow.I apologize for not getting a message thru sooner. It was
not for lack of trying, just me being computer illiterate. Again I can't
thank you all enough for all the Prayers, Love and Support....Love & hugs
from Lexie/debbie/kids  ps.......if this doesn't go thru I am pulling out
all my hair!
