in your thursday july 5 article titled "car decal program aims to stop thefts" you said that police are allowed to stop cars that have a "watch your car" decal on it with out probable cause and search the car with out a search warrent between the hours of 1am and 5am or if the car is within one mile of the mexican border.
you said the program is run by the
"arizona automobile theft authority"a agency formed by the arizona legislature in 1992.
can you give me this information:
1) what arizona law allows the police to stop and search cars that have these "watch your car" decals on them? do you have the title and number with in the title of ars which i suspect will be in either title 13 which is criminal or title 28 which is transportation.
2) where can i contact the "arizona automobile theft authority" do you have email and snail mail addresses.
3) last what arizona law created the "arizona automobile theft authority"? do you have the title and number.
