Well Barry,

Starting to get the idea?

Your campaign will come to represent all that is bad about politics. Every = low life that has become addicted to the attention and the money of running= a campaign of promises targeted at trusting libertarians are now given new= life after being exposed on a national level by having the taxpayers of Ar= izona sustain them.

At least the pretenders are experienced in this particular battle enough to= know that e-mail debate is _not_ going to do them any good and will produc= e quotes that will be used against them.......... _forever_. (sorry guys - = I know you are building up quite a stocpile :)

I'm sure that you are being counciled to "Shut UP!" and just sit back, rela= x, and sign whatever they put in front of you and you'll get the satisfacti= on of having raised more (stolen) money than has ever been raised by any li= bertarian candidate for governor (sure as hell more for the pretenders than= they have ever gotten,... or at least close).

I suspect that many campaigns are planned and that the first one will fund = the latter ones just as the Tucson City Council race public monies arethe = backbone for the monster that is being created on a statewide level.

I have been on the Citizens Clean Elections Commission's mailing list from = the begining and have just put all of the letters in the trash. Mostly beca= use they are more than letters. They are legislative proposals that are pag= es of additional laws and changes to the law that they wish the legislature= to enact. After glancing over the first batch I saw what was comming. They= want total government control of political campaigns,... duh! So I've just= been throwing them into the trash. But a few days ago a bi-weekly mailing,= ...

Was not a packet but an envelope containing a single page........ so I show= ed weakness and opened it. It was an invitation to a Campaign Finance Semin= ar at 3pm at 4001 N 3rd Street Suite #200 on the following dates - Aug 22nd= , 2001 - Sept. 19th - Oct. 10th - Nov. 14th and Dec 19th. Their phone numbe= r is 602-200-0013 - Toll Free: 1-877-631-8891 - Fax: 602-200-8670 www.azcle= anelections.com

I give yu this information so you have the opportunity to call or attend t= o confirm the following information.

I called the number to ask one simple question. I was put through to a guy = named Matt, I think. He immediately wanted to know who I was. "My name is E= rnest Hancock from the Libertarian Party of Arizona. We wish to target anyo= ne that would participate in the Clean Election Act by taking tax money for= political campaigns for violating libertarian principles. What listing do = you have of participating candidates and when do they have to file in order= to start the qualification process?"

This is very interesting! He said that any candidate could wait until the 2= 2nd of August 2002 before they would even have to submit any paperwork what= -so-ever and would then get the money. A candidate can collect the qualifyi= ng monies, get the paperwork ready, plan media buys, run their campaigns an= d never even show up on a radar screen until 3-4 weeks before the primary i= n September 2002.

Millions and millions and millions are going to go through the Schmorg coll= ective,... watch and learn. Matt Salmon and/or Janet Napolitano will raise = enough money outside the CEA (Clean Election Act) to trigger the doubling o= f the benefit (from about $900,000 to $1.8 million dollars for each candida= te that wins the primary - I've been told that this is a low figure). The l= ibertarian ticket could have _any number_ of candidates qualify for the mon= ey prior to the primary and then the winners get the big pay off. $300,000 = dollars for each primary candidate of the 5 statewide races is a big enough= number on its own, but add to that the bonuses for the winners and all of = the 90 smaller legislative races and your talking some real money. $10 mill= ion dollars+ is what I'm talking about. If the Schmorg grosses less than 3 = million then they are not very smart theives.

We get it Barry? Do you?

For the "Libertarian Wing" of the Libertarian Party movement the question o= f taking $10 or $10 billion of mony forced from taxpayers has the same ans= wer for the same reasons.

Even weaknesses as individuals (a multi-millionare taking tax money to buil= d a sports stadium) is not in the same class of someone that would do so in= the name of an organization that is specifically and clearly against it (t= he ALP and its documents). Hell Barry, you were at the ALP convention last = where the resolution promising destruction to any candidate that took the t= ax money was unanimously passed (didn't you vote for it to?)

The Libertarian Party of Arizona that was represented by the state conventi= on only a few months ago obligated us to pursue your destruction should you= take the funds. And I am not willing to wait until next summer to find out= if you will. So I as an individual I will do many creative and wonderous t= hings to see to it that the the taking of the funds will be only the culmin= ation of a long daily campaign of discomfort to all of those candidates tha= t will not simply declare that they _will not_ under any conditions pursue = or take the money. These are words that have come out of your mouth in the = past. And to think that that sets easy with a bunch of hard core libertaria= ns would be very uninformed of you.

My position is that if you are going to sell your soul then you had better = get as good a deal as possible. No sense in being a poor and stupid crook. = At least negotiate a good future for yourself since this is your one and on= ly shot at the brass keyring that opens the way to my wallet in the name of= "The Libertarian Party of Arizona".

Ooohhhhhhhh, but there is a plan for that too,... right. Money from the CEA= can be a resource as the Tucson public money was a resource in an effort t= o take over the ALP years ago,.... been told otherwise?.... just wait and s= ee (nah. You don't have to wait,... you _know_, don't you?). Then you won't= have to worry about ALP bylaws and constitutions and platforms that prohib= it this political welfare program. A convention can be a great place to cha= nge such things when properly planed for with the aid of a full bank accoun= t (gee, have we seen this tried before? :)

Maybe sooner rather than later the ALP might be overwhelmed by millions of = tax dollars (seems like that is what it is going to take :) but the "Libert= arian Wing" will continue as long as we are very clear about what it is to = be libertarian and do everything we can to punish the traitors first with f= ar more a focused effort than we would ever put toward an outsider running =for office (sorry man, that's how it is). By keeping the _libertarian messa= ge_ pure, we can take it with us anywhere,... including right into the midd= le of the R's and D's party as candidates in their party or as registered v= oters in their partys as we attend their party meetings with libertarian li= terature where we'll be accused at a Republican party function as really be= ing libertarian where we will simply reply, "yeah, and you're really social= ist".

Should the Libertarian Party become associated with collectivism then what = would be the point of being libertarian. It would no longer matter what let= ter was after your name on the ballot. An endorsement from a former "Party = of Principle" would mean nothing to a "Real Libertarian". We must prepare o= urselves for this possibility by beating the living snot out of Barry Hess'= campaign as much as possible as early as possible so that we are far away = from what his campaign will represent. In the event that the 8th, 9th or 10= th try by the Schmorg to take over the ALP is successful then we will have = demontrated our credibility as the "LIbertarian Wing" or the "Western Liber= tarian Alliance" that can have its candidates enter into a civil contract f= or this endorsement under conditions to abide by the principles in our docu= ments (written in stone and not subject to any government approval). And wh= at they run as will have little importance since the contract will determin= e their stance on the issues and the fact that the ALP would have been assi= mulated into the Schmorg collective. Of course we must fight very hard to p= revent this from happening, but the assumption that we would no longer be a= force not to be F#^&ed with would be wrong.

So you see in my mind we can't lose as long as we stay principled and kick = some commie butt. The better we demonstrate what Libertarianism is (and wha= t better way than putting a traitor up against the 'political' wall) the mo= re creditable we are should we need to distance ourselves from a Libertaria= n Party gone bad (hell, we already are about as distant as we can be from t= he national party - and not a moment too soon, eh?) Imagine a Libertarian r= unning on the R or D ticket _as a libertarian_ Libertarian signs, literatur= e and (real) platform. Not only do we get the automatic 35+% for the automa= tic voters of a party (different districts have no one running in some majo= r party primaries). Add to this support for the "real libertarian message"= and vote totals really start to scare the establishment.

This scenario has been discribed to some hignly placed individuals in the R= epublican party and I think we can count on the introduction of at least so= me legislation that would give more control back to the parties of who they= are forced to have as their standard bearer. (strong arm lobbying? - maybe= :)

Summary:

As long as we oppose Barry Hess' campaign on principled grounds we are cert= ain to be the victors no matter what weird and devious things happen or wha= t the vote totals are. And as long as Barry is unclear, evasive and downrig= ht deceptive in his responses, then freedom is best served by our planning = for a battle that will have us up against millions of blood dollars (ooooh,= like that has never happened :)

Game On!

Ernest Hancock just thinking out loud
