They got busted for the same thing in Arizona in 1995 during the registration
drive financed by Tucson matching funds. In fact, while 90% of the regs were
acquired in Pima county, they came to Maricopa just long enough to get busted
and land us some really bad publicity which Ernine and others had to deal with
in the media. Peter Schmerl's way of handling the affair was to tell the 
media that
they had been fired and then hire them back the next day.  I remember John
Robertson's comment at the time. He said that he had heard of many reasons
to join the LP over the years, but this was the first time he'd heard of a good
reason NOT to.
