Hello All,

 The East Valley Tribune ran an article this past Satuday which I think might 
be a good idea for us LPers to get involved in. About 37 years ago, 
parishoners of the Latin American Church of the Nazarene in downtown 
Chandler's Old Township neighborhood started handing out food to needy 
residents. 
 Over the years, this small food bank has grown rapidly and moved to its 
present home at 345 S California Street which is off of Frye. But its the 
only food bank in Chandler and last year fed 18,000 and clothed 17000. Each 
year it can be counted on to provide clothes for school and toys for 
Christmas.
 But now, the center is in need of help. If any of you who live in the East 
Valley or if you are interested regardless of where you live and you would 
like to help, please donate to this center today. They are in need of 
unopened canned and jarred foods as well as men's and children's clothing. 
Men are also needed to pick up and deliver heavy furniture donations and 
volunteers to hand out food.
 I will be making a donation to them. I just got my tax refund check from the 
US treasury and am planning on buying food to donate food to the center. I 
would like to urge all of you to help.
 Since we are Libertarians and believe in donating time, resources and 
effort, I thought this might be a good way to demonstrate that we mean what 
we say when we want charities and voluntary efforts to help people less 
fortunate than ourselves. Thsi would also help in doing outreach to the 
hispanic community since dowtown Chandler's Old Town residents are 
predominately hispanic. If you would like more information call 480-963-1423.
