The difference between TWA800 and the Siber aliner TU-154 is that the NSA satellites were monitoring the Ukrainian SAM radars in real time. The SA-10 FLAP LID track/search radar is not something you can hide.
The Flap Lid and the command link to the SA-10 Grumble is 100,000+ watts in power output on a very specific radio frequency. The NSA boys are certain one SA-10 missed its intended drone target and kept on going because they taped the radar screaming louder than MTV on a bad night of rock video.
At Mach 5 the Uk SAM operators may have had 10 seconds to hit the abort switch - simply not enough time to stop the missile before it chased down the airliner.
Keep in mind the Uk Navy sank a civilian ship last year by accident during a military exercise. I - for one - would NEVER accuse our NAVY as being so careless as to sink a ship full of civilians - say with a nuclear submarine - by accident.
