Friends,

I'm starting to get serious inquiries about our impending launch of a libertarian paper. This is something I am determined to do but know enough that many questions remain about how to pull it off.

Before the cart gets any further in front of the horse, let me get some feedback from the ALP on how to proceed with getting a new libertarian paper off the ground.

Jay Evanson has offered to provide use of about 150 news racks in Maricopa County and to deliver a paper to those locations as often as weekly.

I have proposed to him that we (initially, I) publish a monthly in small tabloid form (six columns), beginning in the last week in August with the Please Don't Send Your Kids Back to the Government Schools issue. He has agreed in principle - still doubtful that we can get or act together.

Still some questions remain:

1. I would like to use the name The Arizona Libertarian. Is that OK if the effort is semi-independent of ALP? (see question 2)

2. Can we reach some agreement to make this an independent, profit-seeking enterprise trying to put the New Times out of business?

3. Who is going to pony up some material for the first 3 issues?

As beggar-in-chief, I would like to put together a format and some kind of rate schedule for ads, compensation for writers etc., however I don't know how all this works with you folks. We won't get this off the ground without a lot of donated labor and free content, however depending upon the generosity of everyone forever is a guaranteed way to fail.

Your thoughts please.
