Put security on market Oct. 12, 2001
Militarizing the airports. Confiscating tweezers. Three-hour lines to board a plane.
As we witness the Federal Aviation Administration destroy civil and commercial aviation, and concomitantly the travel, lodging and tourist industries, might I suggest a different course of action?
Get the federal government out of the airlines' business. Let the free market deal with airline security.
Let the airlines decide what level of security they wish to provide, and you will have everything from body-cavity-search airlines to pack-your-own-gun airlines.
The marketplace will decide who provides the level of security the customers want. These airlines will also have to satisfy the safety oncerns of their insurance carriers, which insure the airlines against loss of planes and passenger lawsuits. And all without sacrificing our freedom and dignity.
