Dear David,

I enjoyed your piece on the recent horrors.

However, you failed to mention that the WTC was a government
construction project that only three months ago was finally
privatized. As it was, it was one of the greatest of corporate
welfare construction projects in U.S. history.  Hardly a symbol of
individualism.

Also, regarding the nature of the anti-U.S. sentiment in the Arab
world, we cannot understand the situation without examining the issue
of Palestinian lands and property rights.  In this regard, if you
have not seen it, you might find of interest the article by Stephen
Halbrook, "The Alienation of a Home-land: How Palestine Became
Israel," in the Journal of Libertarian Studies (Fall 1981):
