We must all take time to reflect on what will, in all likelihood, be the deadliest day for law enforcement in our nations history. The officers who gave their lives were murdered beyond the grave by the worthless cowards who committed the deadliest act of terrorism in our nations history. We all know that the job of a law enforcement officer requires that we risk our lives in the performance of our duties. Unfortunately, these brave officers paid the ultimate price in their attempt to serve and protect the citizenry in the area of the World Trade Center. There are times where you can prepare for the deadly threat of an adversary. Unfortunately, there is virtually no way to prevent this type of occurrence. Please take a few moments to offer your thoughts and prayers to all of those who perished in this national tragedy today. In addition, please think about the other victims and take some time for reflection about how fortunate you are to live in the greatest country on earth. Think about the saying, There but for the grace of God go I. Still, we can not take our freedoms and liberties for granted. The first issue of The Use of Force Update will be sent to you at this e-mail address within the next few days. I promise you that we will do our best to serve the law enforcement community and to make you job as safe as possible. Remember, to take time for reflection. Stay Alert, Informed and Alive!
