the calendar is out of wack by 10 days - at least back in 1752 maybe you could write a funny little story about why nobody was born on the days of sept 3 thru 13 in 1752 in countrys ruled by england.here is a copy of the calendar for that year and you will notice that in september the calender jumps from wed sept 2 to thursday 14.
no the guy who made the calendar was not smoking some good pot.
the problem goes back to the 1500's when the pope discovered that the calander was out of wack by 7 days because they had been caculating leap years wrong. spain, france and several other countries corrected their calendar in the 1500's but the english never doing what the french do put off correcting their calendar till 1752. by that time 10 extra days had been added. (adding the rule that leap years dont occur in years evenly divisable by 400 fixed this problem, thus the year 2000 is not a leap year while 1900 and 2100 are leap years)
england wasnt the only country to put off correcting the calander. many other countrys corrected their calendars in different years. russia didnt correct their calendar till the 1900's. (and for that matter the russian/greek and other orthodox versions of christian churches still use the old calander to for thier holidays such as easter which occur on different dates the the western churchs and governments that use the roman catholic calendar.)
you can make fun of my spelling if you want but i consider it creative. you journalists are so narrow minded and can only spell a word one way while im very creative and can spell many words at least 5 or 6 ways and probably more.
also if the christian god is all knowing how come he didnt get this calender stuff straight back in the year 1. personally i think the christian god is a phony and doesnt exist because of this mistake and a number of other mistakes in the bible (such as bibles statement that the earth is the center of the universe and that the sun and planets rotate around the earth, they even convicted galieo of hersey for saying that GASP "the earth rotates around the sun". they were going to burn him on a stake in rome but he fessed up and admitted that the sun really rotates around the earth and they let him go with a milder sentenece of being under house arrest for the rest of his life).
well in the year 1 they didnt use the date 1 they used the julian calendar which is based on the date the city of rome was founded. it wasnt untill several hundred (maybe 1000) years later that some monk decided they should use a calendar based on the date the mythical christian god jesus was born.

CAL(1) BSD Reference Manual CAL(1)
NAME cal - displays a calendar
SYNOPSIS cal [-jy] [[month] year]
DESCRIPTION Cal displays a simple calendar. If arguments are not specified, the cur- rent month is displayed. The options are as follows:
-j Display julian dates (days one-based, numbered from January 1).
-y Display a calendar for the current year.
A single parameter specifies the year (1 - 9999) to be displayed; note the year must be fully specified: ``cal 89'' will not display a calendar for 1989. Two parameters denote the month (1 - 12) and year. If no pa- rameters are specified, the current month's calendar is displayed.
A year starts on Jan 1.
The Gregorian Reformation is assumed to have occurred in 1752 on the 3rd of September. By this time, most countries had recognized the reforma- tion (although a few did not recognize it until the early 1900's.) Ten days following that date were eliminated by the reformation, so the cal- endar for that month is a bit unusual.
HISTORY A cal command appeared in Version 6 AT&T UNIX.
