July 2001

From Cumbernauld News July 18th 2001

There was simply no stopping Cumbernauld Youth Theatre as they sped towards Epping Forest last week, thanks to the generous donation of a free Mini-bus from Arnold Clark. Big hearted staff from the Cumbernauld car dealer left the mini-bus at the groups disposal for a whole weekend, which has allowed them to whizz their way to a major youth theatre festival for teenagers. Run by the National Association Of Youth Theatres, the event takes place at a huge residential camp owned by the English Scout Association and features a host of workshops and performances from groups all over the world. General Manager Richard Turnbull said: "We were approached by the Youth Theatre and were told that traveling down to London was going to cost them an arm and a leg. Some of the parents couldn't afford it and we thought that we would make a gesture of goodwill towards the community." Alison MacKenzie of Cumbernauld Theatre said: "We are very grateful to Arnold Clark because members have had to pay to go down there and it really does cost a fortune"
