Game Notes

Tigers scrap out a 5-3 win, battling back late to extend the Cardinals to a Game 6.

Mickey Lolich weathers a 3-run 1st inning and a hot Lou Brock, to go the distance scattering 9 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 8. After Brock goes 3-for-3 to start the game, Lolich gets him the final 2 times, the last one on a comebacker to end the game.

Detroit rallies for 2 runs in the 4th, cutting St. Louis' lead down to 1. Then after leaving the bases loaded in the bottom of the 6th, the Tigers scratch out 3 runs in the 7th after Lolich drops in a base hit to right to start the rally. Al Kaline bloops a 2-run single in that gives Detroit the lead.
