Red Sox outlast the Cardinals 11-9 in the highest scoring opening game of a World Series ever.

Mark Bellhorn's 2-run HR inside the rightfield foul pole in the bottom of the 8th breaks a 9-9 deadlock after St. Louis rallies twice to tie the game. Boston lets a 7-2 lead slip away and then gives up a 2-run lead when the Cardinals strike for 2 runs in the top of the 8th.

Bellhorn's shot continues giving him footing with bigger stars David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez. Bellhorn, a key in the ALCS, goes 2-for-3 with 3 runs scored. Ortiz is 2-for-3 with a 3-run HR in the 1st and 4 RBI, while Ramirez goes 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI.
