Joe Crede breaks a 3-3 tie in the 4th inning with a solo homer, then uses his glove to save a pair of potential runs. Scott Podsednik triples in A.J. Pierzynski in the bottom of the 8th for an insurance run.

Closer Bobby Jenks pitches out of trouble in the top of the 8th, striking out Jeff Bagwell with runners on 2nd and 3rd to end the inning. Jenks strikes out 2 more in the 9th.
