Yadier Molina delivers the Cardinals into the World Series with a 2-run homer in the top of the 9th, lifting St. Louis to a 3-1 win over the Mets.

Molina missed a potential a tie-breaking solo HR to leadoff the 7th when Endy Chavez robbed him, bring one back over the leftfield wall. New York had taken a 1-0 lead in the 1st only for St. Louis to tie it in the top of the 2nd. From then on, pitching and defense kept the game deadlocked.

However, Scott Rolen reaches on a 1-out single off Aaron Heilman in the top of the 9th, and Molina follows with his blast to left.

The Mets fight back as Jose Valentin and Chavez single off Adam Wainwright to leadoff the bottom of the 9th. After the next 2 batters are retired, Paul LoDuca walks to load the bases, but Wainwright gets Carlos Beltran looking for strike 3, out 3.
