San Francisco bunches its runs, including a 5-run 7th inning that breaks the game open, while Craig McMurtry struggles with control and Atlanta fielders commit 3 errors. The Giants overcome the Braves' 2-run 1st, plating a pair in the 3rd on Darrell Evans' single and Jack Clark's Sac Fly.

The Giants take a 4-3 lead when Clark and Chili Davis have a pair of Sac Flies in the 5th after McMurtry is driven from the game after his 5th walk. San Francisco opens up a 9-3 lead in the 7th as Johnnie LeMaster leads off with a HR, Evans drives in a run with a double and then scores on Clark's HR. Brad Wellman adds a 2-out RBI single to polish off Atlanta.
