Carlos Zambrano takes a no-hitter into the 8th before Marcus Giles breaks it up with a infield single with 1 out. Russell Branyan provides San Diego's 2nd hit, a solo HR with 1 out in the 9th.

San Diego's staff also tosses a combined 2-hitter, originally started by Chris Young. However, Young is ejected along with Jake Peavy, Cubs hitting coach Gerald Perry and Derrek Lee after a brawl in the bottom of the 4th inning. Young had hit Lee with a pitch when words were exchanged, followed by punches.
