Minnesota gets a strong start from Kevin Slowey and executes small ball for the win. Slowey scatters 7 singles and 1 run while walking none in 5 2/3 innings, to go with 3 1/3 innings of no-walk, scoreless relief. Kansas City manages 11 hits, but all singles.

Meanwhile, the Twins get 8 walks, score 1 run on Joe Mauer's single in the 3rd, get 2 more runs on a fielder's choice by Jason Kubel that scores Nick Punto, and Mauer on a throwing error by Mike Aviles. Mauer plates the final run with a Sac Fly in the 9th.
