Playing under interim coach Bo Pellini, Nebraska's defense makes a big impression, holding Michigan State to just a 1st quarter FG and sacking Jeff Smoker 5 times, while picking him 3 times. The Spartans manage just 18 yards rushing.

The Cornhuskers' offense doesn't have to be great, just workmanlike to pick up the win. Cory Ross carries 37 times for 138 yards and 2 TDs. Ross' 2-yard TD run early in the 2nd quarter breaks a 3-3 tie, and then his 6-yard TD run late in the 1st half opens the 17-3 margin.
