Virginia Tech gets 2 defensive returns for scores, set up a 3rd TD with another turnover, and set up a FG with a shortfield following a 15-yard penalty on Miami, which commits 14 for 117 yards. The Hokies need just 2 completions and 219 yards total offense, 125 from Kevin Jones.

DeAngelo Hall picks up a fumble and returns it 28 yards for the 1st score. Carter Warley adds a 39-yard FG just before halftime after a penalty on Miami starts the Hokies at the Canes' 26.

Eric Green returns an INT 51 yards for a 17-0 lead early in the 3rd quarter and then Michael Crawford adds another INT and returns it 44 yards to the 10 to set up Jones' 2-yard TD run and a 24-0 lead. Miami turns it over 4 times, coupled with the penalties, offsetting 35+ minutes of possession time and a 377-to-219 edge in yardage.
