Game Notes

Buckeyes stun the #7 Wolverines 37-21, denying Michigan an unblemished Big 10 championship.

Troy Smith keeps the Wolverines chasing for much of the game, while Ted Ginn Jr. returns a punt 82 yards for a TD early in the 3rd quarter, opening a 27-14 lead for Ohio State. Smith goes 13-of-23 for 241 yards and 2 TDs, while running for 145 yards and 1 TD.

After Smith starts the game with a 68-yard TD pass to Anthony Gonzalez, Michigan bounces back to claim a 14-7 lead. But Smith scores on a 2-yard run early in the 2nd quarter, starting a 27-0 run before Chad Henne finds Braylon Edwards for a 38-yard TD in the 4th quarter to cut it to 34-21.

Edwards has 11 catches for 172 yards and 1 TD, while Henne throws for 328 yards and 2 TDs, but also suffers 2 INTs. Michigan is able to grab a share of the Big 10 title when Iowa defeats Wisconsin.
