Game Notes

Hawkeyes rebound with a 38-16 win, as Drew Tate scorches the Spartans.

Iowa bounces back from consecutive losses to overwhelm the Michigan State defense. Tate goes 25-of-36 for 340 yards and 1 TD, as Iowa rolls up 464 yards on offense. Iowa jumps out to a 14-0 lead with a 47-yard TD run by Jermelle Lewis and a 15-yard TD toss from Tate to Ed Hinkel in the 1st quarter.

Michigan State cuts it to 14-6 with a pair of FGs in the 2nd quarter, but when Tom Busch scores on a 3-yard run in the 3rd quarter, the Hawkeyes pull away for good. Marques Simmons adds 2 short TD runs in the 4th quarter.

The Spartans get 245 yards passing and 89 yards rushing from Drew Stanton, but too often Michigan State is forced to settle for FGs.
