After offenses dominate, it comes down to which kicker doesn't fail. Walk-on freshman Peter LoCoco nails a 47-yard FG in the 2nd OT, after missing a PAT and having his 25-yard attempt in the 1st OT blocked. Then Northwestern's Brett Hoffman misses his 5th FG attempt on the Wildcats' 2nd OT possession giving TCU the win.

Both offenses are unstoppable save for the failing kickers. The 2 teams combine for 1,152 yards and 12 TDs. Northwestern's Brett Basanez goes 39-of-62 for 513 yards and 4 TDs, while Tye Gunn is 20-of-38 for 368 yards and 4 TDs. The Frogs' Lonta Hobbs runs for 142 yards and 2 TDs. The Wildcats' Jonathan Fields catches 8 passes for 202 yards and 3 TDs.

Northwestern rallies from down 31-17 in the 3rd quarter to tie it 3 times in the 4th quarter. TCU takes a 45-38 lead w/ 3:00 on a 24-yard TD pass from Gunn to Cory Rodgers. But the Wildcats rally to force OT on Basanez' 8-yard TD pass to Shaun Herbert w/ :09 left in regulation.
