Iowa is able to extend a 24-21 lead with TD runs by Albert Young and Damian Sims. Indiana stays in the contest on the strength of a potent combo of Blake Powers and James Hardy. Powers throws for 360 yards and 2 TDs, with Hardy catching 12 passes for 203 yards and 1 TD.

However, Iowa has balance on its side as Drew Tate throws for a pair of TDs and Young runs for 125 yards and 2 TDs. After Powers hits James Bailey with a 6-yard pass, cutting it to 24-21, Iowa immediately responds with Young scoring on a 30-yard run.
