#25 Wolverines' defense steps up, shuts down the #21 Wildcats in a 33-17 victory.

Michigan shuts out Northwestern in the 2nd half en route to the win. After Kevin Grady's 1-yard TD run opens the scoring, Michigan's defense inflicts some damage as Leon Hall forces a fumble by Tyrell Sutton and returns it 83 yards for a TD. The Wolverines also intercept Brett Basanez twice.

Jerome Jackson runs for 105 yards for Michigan and Garrett Rivas contributes 4 FGs. The Wildcats are not shut down completely, as Basanez throws for 326 yards and 2 TDs, both to Mark Philmore, who catches 9 passes for 139 yards.
