Game Notes

Gophers put away the Spartans 31-18.

Minnesota knocks out Drew Stanton early, then knocks Michigan State from bowl eligibility. Despite Stanton leaving with dizziness, the Spartans get a 9-0 lead, scoring on a blocked punt and a safety. But Minnesota blows by the Spartans who are unable to run, and prone to mistakes.

The Gophers hold Michigan State to just 3 yards rushing, and take the game over, scoring 17 in the 2nd quarter, including the go-ahead TD on Steve Davis' 48-yard return of a fumble. Bryan Cupito throws a pair of 2nd half TDs, and finishes with 243 yards while breaking the school-record for career passing yardage.
